Mick Jones is an English musician, songwriter and record producer, best known as the founder and leader of the British-American rock band Foreigner.

Carrie Preston: is an American actress, director, and producer. She is best known for her roles as Arlene Fowler in the HBO fantasy drama series True Blood and as Elsbeth Tascioni in the CBS legal drama series The Good Wife and the two spinoffs The Good Fight and Elsbeth.

This book provides an in-depth review of the journeys of those diagnosed with PD, advocates, and caregivers. The emphasis is on the importance of slowing the progression of PD through sports. In providing this information, the hope is that until the cure is discovered, we can provide valuable information, avenues, and information covering multiple sports and their effect on those battling PD. Also noted are sports, which need more research and lack these results.

Finally, if those battling PD know about various exercises, fitness, and improving health through specific sports, then progression can be maintained and slowed down. This could result in longer health spans and maintaining the ability to allow the reader to combat PD until the cure is found. In addition, providing multiple sport analysis will benefit so many to not be discouraged if they do not enjoy or participate in one sport because so many others exist today which through awareness can be beneficial.

We have assembled a variety of experts worldwide to share their experiences, research, and evidence through their journeys that, in many cases, through specific sports, the progression of PD can be slowed down, and in many cases, allows each to live a productive life and maintain longer coping mechanisms.

We need everyone’s voice in the fight for a Parkinson’s cure.

As I advocate in memory of my mother, Sharon, who lost her battle with Parkinson’s, I’ve faced unexpected challenges. The fight for awareness and a cure has not always been inclusive, especially for those of us who have lost loved ones to the disease. But our voices still matter and are still powerful in this fight.

While we cannot bring back our loved ones, we can unite with those currently battling Parkinson’s and their caregivers to push for a cure. We must persist, even in the face of negativity, in honor of those we’ve lost. It’s time to bring awareness to the voices that have been shut out of this conversation and use our loved ones’ memories to support others and advocate for a cure.

An Empty Seat at the Table is a behind-the-scenes look at the obstacles faced in my journey and a call for those left behind to continue to use their voices to fight this disease in the name of those lost to PD so they will never be forgotten. It is also a compilation of interviews in memory of loved ones lost to PD and artwork by Parkinson’s artists as a way to visualize the struggles of the loss of our loved ones and the difficulty that we sometimes face advocating in their memory.
