I have led a very active life both in work and sport, I have been teaching martial arts for over 35 years, I also play/umpire and teach field hockey. In the past I have completed marathons, bike rides and treks to raise crucial funding for charities that friends and family have been affected by. Soon as I was diagnosed, I started to think about how I can raise awareness, so I started in my workplace, joined Teams meetings, and spoke about Parkinson’s, I have also attended numerous community/charity events/local groups raising awareness.

As we embark on a new writing journey…. This will be a children’s book about my daughter, Brooke and my mother, Sharon (Brooke’s grandma). It will focus on their relationship and why children should never fear or feel unaware of Parkinson’s disease. That love always conquers all but that no child should ever have their feelings or questions unanswered and at the same time their loved one who maybe battling PD still can ensure their love continues through them forever……

After training, she worked as a neurologist in New Orleans and Chicago before ending up in Boca Raton working solely as a Movement Disorders Specialist and researcher. She has been the PI/co-PI on over 90 clinical trials which lead to her desire to pursue further research in the pharmaceutical space. After a brief time at Eisai working on Alzheimer’s disease, she was able to return to her true passion of Movement Disorders with AskBio, a gene therapy company. On a personal level, her connection with Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders is dear to her heart as she has several family members who had Parkinson’s Disease and she herself has Essential Tremor.

It is also a compilation of interviews in memory of loved ones lost to PD and artwork by Parkinson’s artists as a way to visualize the struggles of the loss of our loved ones and the difficulty that we sometimes face advocating in their memory.
